Congrats to Kurtis, the 2nd Year Resident!

Last Thursday, July 1, was a momentous day... Kurtis officially become a 2nd-Year Resident. He's moving on up! It's been interesting to watch the transition the past few weeks. Our 3rd-Year friends have all found jobs and homes in new states and places, and we've been watching the new interns trickle into Muncie and watching them experience the same feelings and questions that we had a year ago. And we're somewhere in between that shuffle.

A few things will change with Kurtis being a 2nd-Year.

• He'll have less call nights than he did his intern year.
• He now will be teaching and supervising an intern as they rotate through their schedules each month
  
• When he finishes taking his Step III Board exam and finishes getting licensed as a physician here, he'll be able to "moonlight" by working at area clinics and ERs in his "spare time"
• He's on the Residency Council as the Secretary

I'm so proud of Kurtis and how well he did this past year. He is so dedicated and works so hard and always does the very best he can, despite his many nights of sleeplessness.

On his first day of residency we took his picture. We took one the other day to celebrate his being a 2nd-Year. Can you see a difference?




















Upon reviewing this post for final approval, Kurtis said, "I look exactly the same. I thought I was supposed to look different. My brain doesn't even look bigger." Ha ha. Maybe you can't see a difference in the picture, but there is a difference. He was so nervous and anxious his first day, and now he's more comfortable and confident. Maybe pictures aren't worth a 1,000 words :)
